Atractylon - Introduction
Atractylon, the chemical name is β-dimetione, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C15H24O. It is a colorless to yellow liquid with a special aromatic odor.
Atractylon has two main uses. First of all, it is a natural herbal extract, which is often used in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, and can be used as a raw material for medicine or an additive for Chinese herbal medicine. Secondly, Atractylon has good bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects and can be used in skin care products, perfumes and herbal aromatherapy products.
Atractylon is mainly obtained by distilling the volatile oil containing this component in the rhizome of Atractylodes lancea. Atractylodes rhizome is usually ground into powder first, then steam distilled, the distillate contains Atractylon, and finally purified to obtain pure Atractylon.
Regarding the safety information of Atractylon, it is a natural substance and generally has low toxicity. But still need to pay attention to the following points: First, Atractylon is irritating, avoid direct contact with skin and eyes, and wear gloves and goggles when using it.
