BOC-PHE-GLY-OME - Introduction
BOC-PHE-GLY-OME(BOC-PHE-GLY-OME) is a commonly used agent for protecting amino acids. It is chemically stable and is a white crystalline solid.
The main use of BOC-PHE-GLY-OME is as an amino acid protecting group in the synthesis of peptides and proteins. It protects the amine groups of amino acids and prevents unexpected reactions during synthesis. Where it is desired to synthesize a long-chain peptide or protein, the use of a BOC-PHE-GLY-OME may help to selectively protect the amino acid of interest.
The method of preparing BOC-PHE-GLY-OME is generally carried out by adding a tert-butyl ketalizing agent (Di-tert-butyl dicarbonate,Boc2O) to methyl phenylacetate (PhCOOCH3). The reaction needs to be carried out in a basic environment to form a BOC-PHE-GLY-OME, which is then purified by crystallization to obtain a pure product.
