Bis(phenylthio)methane - Reference Information
| use | organic synthesis intermediate. |
| production method | dissolve thiophenol in absolute ethanol, add sodium hydroxide to make thiophenol sodium ethanol solution, and then add diiodomethane to control the temperature not exceeding 80 ℃. After feeding, heat and reflux for 1h. Most of the ethanol is steamed out, water and ether are added to dissolve and delaminate. The ether layer is washed with alkali, washed with water, and dried. The ether is steamed out to obtain a crude product, which is recrystallized with petroleum ether to obtain the finished product bis (phenylthio) methane with 80% yield. |
