Epoxylathyrol(Epoxylathyrol) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C15H26O3. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with low volatility.
Epoxylathyrol has good epoxidation and hydroxylation reactivity. It can be widely used as an important chemical reagent in the preparation of organic compounds, functional polymers and polyethers. Because of its strong affinity for oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and other atoms, it can also be used for the immobilization of catalysts and the preparation of metal complexes.
Epoxylathyrol can be synthesized by adding an oxidizing agent (such as hydrogen peroxide) in an appropriate solvent. Typically, vinyl ovine alcohol (Lathyrol) is reacted with hydrogen peroxide in benzene or methanol to give Epoxylathyrol.
From a safety point of view, Epoxylathyrol is less toxic, but as a chemical substance, it still needs to be handled with caution. Inhalation of its vapors and contact with skin and eyes should be avoided during operation. It is recommended to operate in a well-ventilated area and take appropriate protective measures, such as wearing goggles and protective clothing. In case of accidental contact or ingestion, seek medical attention immediately.
