N-METHYLSUCCINIMIDE - Introduction
N-Methylsuccinamide (N-methylpyrrolidone, NMP for short) is a colorless and transparent liquid with high boiling point, low viscosity and low surface tension. Its chemical formula is C5H9NO.
N-methyl succinamide has good solubility, soluble in water, alcohols and a variety of organic solvents. It is an excellent solvent and extractant, which is widely used in organic synthesis, chemical industry, electronic materials, textiles, plastics, coatings, metallurgy and other fields.
there are two main methods for the preparation of N-methyl succinamide: by the reaction of succinamide and methylamine, or by butyric acid and methylamine into methyl butyric anhydride, and then reacted with ethanolamine to generate N-methyl succinamide.
