| application | 1-isobutyl-2-methylimidazole is an important coating additive and pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be obtained by nucleophilic substitution of 2-methylimidazole and chloroisobutane. |
| preparation | add 25 ml of triethylamine to 100 ml of toluene, add 12.3g of 2-methylimidazole, heat to 60~65 ℃, dissolve and slowly add 16.7g of chloroisobutane at this temperature, keep the temperature at 60~65 ℃ for 3 hours after dropping, and slowly heat up to 100~110 ℃ after 3 hours, heat preservation at this temperature for another 5 hours, after the heat preservation is completed, it is cooled to below 10 ℃, filtered, the filtrate is distilled, and 13g of fraction at 96~98 ℃(4.5mmHg) is collected, which is 1-isobutyl -2-methylimidazole. Based on 2-methylimidazole, the molar yield of this method is 63%. |
