Three of them are derivatives of n-pentane, four are derivatives of isopentane and one is a derivative of Tetramethylmethane. The fusel oil contains 3-methyl-1-butanol, I .e., isoamyl alcohol, and 2-methyl-1-butanol, I .e., optically active pentanol. 3-methyl-1-butanol is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor, toxic! Density 0.813(15 ° C), melting point -117 ° C, boiling point of 132 ° C, slightly soluble in water, and ethanol and ether miscible, mainly used as a solvent and preparation of drugs. 2-methyl-1-butanol is colorless liquid, density 0.816, boiling point 128 ℃, slightly soluble in water, miscible with ethanol, ether, levorotatory body [α]D20-4.75 °.
