用于调配香水、化妆品、皂用和烟用香精等。亦是人造香荚兰香精的重要成分,常与香兰素、洋茉莉醛等香料并用。还可作定香剂。
有毒,大鼠经口LD50 293mg/kg,小鼠经口LD50 196mg/kg,小鼠腹腔注射LD50 220mg/kg。工作场所应有良好的通风,设备应密闭,操作人员应穿戴防护用具。
