Physical and Chemical PropertiesWhite powder. Melting point 162-163 °c (decomposition). Soluble in water. The dilute solution is colorless or yellowish, and the concentration is gray yellow. It is dark yellow or brown in texture.
UseSemi-synthetic oxime-type cephalosporins are the third generation cephalosporins. This product has a strong effect on Gram-negative bacteria, especially on Enterobacteriaceae. Mainly used for respiratory infections caused by sensitive bacteria, urinary tract infections, biliary tract and intestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, Burns and bone and joint infections.
In vitro study Cefotaxime exhibits an MIC of 0.0625 mg/L for V. vulnificus CMCP6.
