1. First, 1,2-dibromoethane is reacted with 1,5-cyclooctadiene to obtain 1,2-bis (1,5-cyclooctadiene) ethane.
2. It is then reacted with diphenylphosphine to obtain 1,2-bis [(2R,5R)-2,5-diphenylphosphine] ethane.
3. Finally, 1,2-bis [(2R,5R)-2,5-diphenylphosphine] ethane is reacted with rhodium tetrafluoroborate (I) to generate the target product.
