biological activity | guggulster is a phytosterol derived from the gum of the commipora wightii tree. By down-regulating the anti-apoptosis gene product (IAP1,xIAP,Bfl-1/A1,Bcl-2,cFLIP,survivin), guggulster Regulates cyclin (cyclin D1,c-Myc), activation of caspases,JNK, inhibition of Akt, inhibition of growth of various tumor cells and induction of apoptosis. Guggulsterone mediates gene expression by regulating several transcription factors, including NF-κB,STAT3,C /EBPα, androgen receptors and glucocorticoid receptors. Guggulsterone, a farnesoid X receptor (FXR) antagonist, reduced CDCA-induced FXR activation with IC50 of 17 and 15 μm for Z-and E-Guggulsterone, respectively. |
