Uses | 2,5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is the raw material for the synthesis of tropin ketone. In the production process of tobinone, succinaldehyde obtained by hydrolysis of 2, 5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is one of the raw materials for the synthesis of tobinone. Because THF has low boiling point, good fluidity, strong solubility to many chemical substances, and good diffusion to the surface and interior of the resin, it is commonly known as "universal solvent". Widely used in plastics, rubber, coatings, adhesives, inks, textiles, pharmaceuticals and other industries. This product is an intermediate of the anticholinergic drug atropine sulfate. It is also used as a photographic film agent. Because THF has the characteristics of low boiling point, good fluidity, strong solubility to many chemical substances, and good diffusion to the surface and interior of the resin, it is commonly known as "universal solvent". Widely used in plastics, rubber, coatings, adhesives, inks, textiles, pharmaceuticals and other industries. |
Production method | It is obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of 2, 5-dimethoxydihydrofuran ([332-77-4]). The product can also be prepared by etherification of furan with methanol and catalytic hydrogenation at close to normal pressure, but the yield is low. |
