Use | (2-bromoethynyl) triisopropylsilane is an organic intermediate, which can be obtained by bromination of triisopropylsilyl acetylene through NBS. There are reports that it can be used to prepare 2-alkynylindole compounds. |
N-bromosuccinimide (3.2 gm, 18 mmol) and silver nitrate (252 mg, 1.5 mmol) were added to a stirred solution of alkynes (15 mmol) in acetone (50 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction was quenched with cold water (50 mL) and extracted with n-pentane (100 mL x 3). The combined organic fraction was dried with anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane solution 0.5% ethyl acetate) to obtain (2-bromoethynyl) triisopropylsilane.
