(M,P-VINYLBENZYLOXY)TRIMETHYLSILANE - Risk and Safety
(M,P-VINYLBENZYLOXY)TRIMETHYLSILANE - Introduction
(Vinylphenoxy) trimethylsilane, the chemical formula is C11H16OSi, the common structural formula is CH2 = CHC6H4OSi(CH3)3.
Nature:
(Vinylphenoxy) trimethylsilane is an organosilicon compound with the appearance of a colorless liquid. It has low viscosity, low surface tension, good heat resistance and chemical stability. The compound is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, dimethylformamide and chloroform at room temperature.
Use:
(Vinylphenoxy) trimethylsilane is commonly used as a functional silane coupling agent. It can chemically react with the surface of inorganic substances and combine organic substances with inorganic substances, thereby improving the adhesion and weather resistance of the material. The compound is widely used in adhesives, sealants, coatings, fiber treatment agents and rubber reinforcing agents.
Preparation Method:
The preparation of (vinylphenoxy) trimethylsilane is usually obtained by silane coupling reaction. A common preparation method is to obtain the target product by reacting trimethylsilane with phenol in the presence of hydrochloric acid and introducing ethylene gas for addition reaction.
Safety Information:
Under normal use conditions, (vinylphenoxy) trimethylsilane is generally safe. However, the following should be noted for production and use:
-It is a volatile organic compound and should be kept away from fire and avoid inhalation and contact. Wear protective gloves and respiratory protective equipment as necessary.
-storage should be sealed in a cool, dry place, away from fire and oxidant.
-In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
-When in use should follow the relevant safety procedures, such as a well-ventilated environment for operation, and avoid breathing its vapor.
