EPA chemical information | Platinum tetrachloride (13454-96-1) |
Platinum chloride, also known as platinum tetrachloride, is made by reacting metal platinum with inorganic acid. The specifications are analytically pure and chemically pure [1]. Platinum tetrachloride (IV) is a hygroscopic reddish brown crystal or brown crystal with a density of 4.303(g/mL,25/4 ℃). It is decomposed by heating and easily soluble in water, ethanol, hydrochloric acid and acetone, and slightly soluble in acetic. Dissolved in hydrochloric acid can produce hexachloroplatinic acid. PtCl4 · 5H2O, which becomes yellow when absorbing moisture in the air, PtCl4 · 5H2O is a red monoclinic crystal with a density of 2.43g/cm3. One molecule of crystal water is removed at 100 ℃, which is easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether, and can also be directly chlorinated by platinum at 250 ℃.
In capacity analysis, it is used to determine potassium, cesium, ruthenium, ammonium, thallium, alkaloids, etc., and is also used as a catalyst.
for electroplating. Used as catalyst and analytical reagent. It is also used in the epitaxy and diffusion process in semiconductor production.
