t-Butylimidotris(dimethylamido)tantalum(V) is an organic tantalum compound with the formula [(CH3)2N]3Ta(NBut)(tBu). It can be prepared according to the following method: first tert-butanol and triethylamine are reacted to form [tBuNEt3], and then [tBuNEt3] is reacted with [NBun](Me)3TaCl2 to give t-Butylimidotris(dimethylamido)tantalum(V).
t-Butylimidotris(dimethylamido)tantalum(V) is a yellow solid with high stability at room temperature. It is soluble in organic solvents, but insoluble in water. The compounds are commonly used as organometallic precursors in chemical synthesis and material preparation.
