Use:
3,3-bis(methoxy-methyl)-2,5-dimethylhexane can be used as a solvent and is widely used in organic synthesis. It can be used in the reaction as a reaction solvent, can also be used for separation, purification of compounds.
Preparation Method:
3,3-bis(methoxy-methyl)-2,5-dimethylhexane is generally prepared by the following steps:
1. Methylpropyne (1,5-hexadiyne) reacts with methanol to give methoxy propyne (1,5-hexadimethoxy alkyne)
2. self-interactive reaction between sodium methoxide and formaldehyde to obtain 3,3-bis (methoxy-methyl)-2-propargyl alcohol
3. 3,3-bis (methoxy-methyl)-2-propargyl alcohol and sodium metal react in liquid ammonia to generate 3,3-bis (methoxy-methyl)-2-propenyl bromide
4. 3,3-bis (methoxy-methyl)-2-propenyl bromide reacts with Grignard reagents to generate 3,3-bis (methoxy-methyl)-2,5-dimethylhexanone
5. 3,3-Bis (methoxy-methyl)-2,5-dimethylhexanone is converted to the final product 3,3-bis(methoxy-methyl)-2,5-dimethylhexane by reduction.
