report 1.
Add 2, 3-butanedione (10g;116mmol) and 20 mLCHCl3 to a 250mL round bottom flask equipped with a reflux condenser and a drip funnel. Bromine (37g,12mL,232mmol,d:3.1028)g/mL) was dissolved with 25 mLCHCl3 and slowly added dropwise to the reaction mixture. The reaction was carried out at 50°C until no HBr was precipitated. Cool the crude mixture in the refrigerator overnight. Filter out the precipitated product. Recrystallization of the crude product from CHCl3 gave 1, 4-dibromo-2, 3-butanedione.
report 2.
The CHCl3(10mL) solution of 2,3-succinedone (5.000g,58.0mmol) was slowly dropped into the CHCl3(6mL) solution of bromine (18.560g,116.0mmol) at room temperature. After the addition, the reaction was carried out at 48°C for 3 hours. The mixture was cooled in an ice bath for 2 h, and the precipitate was filtered and purified by recrystallization from CHCl3 to obtain a yellow solid of 1, 4-dibromo-2, 3-butanedione. Output: 9.112g(65%). Melting point: 116-117 ℃.
