application | 2,5-dibromo-1, 4-dimethylbenzene is mainly used to produce nylon MXD6 in addition to being used to synthesize epoxy resin curing agent and intermediate of m-xylene dicyanate. it has broad market prospects and is an important fine chemical intermediate that needs to be developed urgently in China. |
Preparation | Add iron powder (2.27g) to the solution of p-xylene (140 ml, 120g, 1.13 mol) in CH2Cl2(300 ml). At 0°C, slowly drip bromine was added and stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. Wash with 2N NaOH(300ml) and saturated NaCl solution, dry with Na2SO4, and remove the solvent under vacuum. The crude product was recrystallized with ethanol. 274g(1.04mol,92%) of 2, 5-dibromo-1, 4-dimethylbenzene was obtained as a white crystalline solid. The melting point is 72 degrees Celsius. |
