Methylation of hydroquinone with dimethyl sulfate under alkaline conditions to generate dimethoxybenzene, and then condensation with propionyl chloride with the participation of aluminum trichloride to obtain 2, 5-dimethoxybenzene acetone. The latter is condensed with methyl nitrite under the action of hydrogen chloride to obtain α-(N-hydroxyimino)-2, 5-dimethoxyphenylacetone, and finally hydrogenated under the catalysis of palladium and carbon to obtain the product.
