preparation | add 2 '-fluorine-acetophenone (90.0g) dropwise to mechanically stirred slurry (93-98%, 360 mL) of concentrated H2SO4 at -42 ℃, 652 mmol) and fuming nitric acid (53.1 mL) in concentrated H2SO4(129 mL). The slurry was stirred at -42 ℃ for 30 min. Slowly pour the mixture on 1.3kg ice. Add water (1 L) to the mixture. The product precipitates from the solution. After all the ice melts, the product is filtered to collect. Dissolve the solids with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with 5% Na2CO3 (2 x 300 mL), water (300 mL) and brine (300 mL) and dried with Na2SO4. It was filtered and the filtrate concentrated to obtain compound 1-(2-fluoro-5-nitrophenyl) ethyl-1-one (115g) as a solid. |
