introduction | 1-bromo -3, 5-dimethoxybenzene is an organic intermediate, which can be prepared from 3, 5-dimethoxyaniline through diazotization reaction. There are reports that it can be used to prepare a symmetrical benzimidazole ruthenium complex containing pyrene group. |
preparation | at 0°C, a small amount of 7.4g(107 mmol) of sodium nitrate in 15 mL of distilled water was added to 10.0g(65.3 mmol) of 3, 5-dimethoxyaniline in 30 mL 48% hydrobromic acid solution until the presence of diazonium salt was observed with starch potassium iodide test paper. At the same time, the mixture of 5.2g(36 mmol) cuprous bromide in 5.2 mL 48% hydrobromic acid was heated to boiling in another flask. Add a small amount of the prepared diazonium salt solution to the cuprous bromide-hydrobromic acid solution and maintain its boiling point. After adding, the total reaction mixture is stirred and heated for another 30 minutes, and the obtained crude product is purified by steam distillation, and 7.84g of 1-bromo -3, 5-dimethoxybenzene is collected, which is a white solid with a yield of 55.8% and a melting point of 63-64 ℃. |
