1-butyl-3-methylimidazol-3-ium,nitrate - Introduction
The chemical formula is C9H18N3O2. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
NITRATE is a solid with a white crystalline or powdery appearance. Its solubility is high, soluble in many organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers, insoluble in water. Its melting point is relatively low, about 95-97°C.
Use:
NITRATE has many uses in the field of chemistry. It is often used as a precursor of an ionic liquid, which can be deprotonated to obtain an ionic liquid with anion selectivity. Ionic liquids are widely used in chemical synthesis and catalytic reactions because of their low volatility, high stability and good solubility.
Method:
NITRATE can be prepared by methylation reaction and imidazole cyclization reaction. Butylamine is first reacted with methyl iodide to produce 1-methyl -3-butyl imidazole. 1-Methyl -3-butyl imidazole is then reacted with nitric acid to yield NITRATE.
Safety Information:
The NITRATE will not cause obvious harm under correct use and handling. But it is a chemical, should pay attention to the following safety matters:
-Avoid inhaling the gas of its dust and solution;
-Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wear appropriate protective equipment when using;
-Avoid reacting with substances such as strong oxidants and hydrofluoric acid, which can produce dangerous substances;
-storage should be sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place;
-Read the relevant safety instructions before use and strictly follow the operating procedures.
