In vitro study | Fumagillin selectively inhibited the growth of the Δmap1 strain, but did not affect the growth of wild-type or MetAP-2-deleted p2 S. Cerevisiae strains. As a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis in budding yeast cells, Fumagillin not only reverses the growth inhibitory activity of Vpr, but also inhibits Vpr-dependent viral gene expression based on human macrophage infection. Although fumagillin's toxicity limits its use in humans, its analogs have Structure-activity relationships related to its angiogenic properties and may be further explored for the treatment of angiogenesis-dependent diseases. |
In vivo study | In DEN-treated rats, fumagillin (30 mg/kg, I. p.) inhibited HCC deterioration and systemic metastasis in the liver itself. |
