105640-07-1 - Introduction
4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone, also known as cyclopentanone-4-phenol. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
-Appearance: White crystalline solid
-Solubility: Soluble in ether and ketone solvents, insoluble in water
-Melting point: approx. 99-102°C
-Molecular formula: C13H16O2
-Molecular weight: 204.27g/mol
Use:
- 4-(4-Hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone is often used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and can be used to synthesize other organic compounds, such as pesticides and pharmaceuticals.
-Because of its certain chemical reactivity, it can be used in chemical research and laboratory applications.
Preparation Method:
- 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone is prepared by a variety of methods, and the two common methods are as follows:
1. Prepared by the condensation reaction of p-nitrophenol and hexanone. First, p-nitrophenol is reacted with an alkaline solution to obtain sodium p-nitrophenol. Then, condensation reaction with hexanone occurs under basic conditions to produce 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone.
2. prepared by hydroxyalkylation of cyclohexanone. Cyclohexanone is reacted with a highly basic solvent (e. g., sodium hydroxide/alcohol solution) and sodium hydrogen periodate to effect hydroxyalkylation to give 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone.
Safety Information:
- 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanone is an organic compound, please pay attention to follow the safety procedures for handling.
-Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
-During operation and storage, avoid contact with oxidants, acids, alkalis and high temperatures to prevent dangerous reactions.
-It should be operated in a well-ventilated place and make sure to avoid inhaling its dust or vapor.
-Personal protective measures should be in place during use and handling, such as wearing protective glasses, gloves and respiratory protective equipment.
-If necessary, the compound should be used and handled under the guidance of a professional.
