140413-40-7 - Introduction
2-Chloro-3-amino-4, 6-dimethylpyridine, also known as CAP or CAP2, is an organic compound. Its chemical formula is C9H13ClN2 and its relative molecular mass is 182.67g/mol.
It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, dimethylformamide and chloroform. It has a slight amine odor.
2-Chloro-3-amino -4, 6-dimethylpyridine has a wide range of applications in the field of organic synthesis. As a strong base, it can be used as a base catalyst in a non-aqueous solution to promote various organic reactions. For example, it can be used as a catalyst for dehydrogenation in gas phase reactions, as well as representative N-alkylation reactions and N-alkyl deamination reactions.
The method for preparing 2-chloro-3-amino -4, 6-lutidine can be obtained by reacting 3-amino -2-methyl pyridine with sodium hypochlorite, and then treating with hydrochloric acid. The reaction is generally carried out at room temperature or slightly elevated temperature.
For safety information, 2-chloro-3-amino-4, 6-lutidine should be stored in sealed containers, away from fire and oxidizing agents. It belongs to dangerous goods, has the irritation, should avoid contact with the skin and eyes. Appropriate protective equipment, including lab gloves, goggles and protective clothing, shall be worn during operation. When disposing of waste, local regulations should be followed and appropriate measures should be taken for disposal.
