use | 15-bromo-1-decentane alcohol can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis. |
Preparation | Decentane -1,15-diol (4.70g,19.2mmol) is dissolved in cyclohexane (50mL) and 48% HBr(2.4mL,21.2mmol,1.1 equivalent) is added under vigorous stirring. Return the mixture overnight. After cooling to room temperature, add saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (100mL) to separate the phases. The aqueous phase was extracted with dichloromethane (3 × 50mL). The combined organic layers were dried with MgSO 4. After evaporating the solvent, the product was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, 27 × 4cm, cyclohexane/ethyl acetate, 4:1 → 100% ethyl acetate) and separated into a white solid 15-bromo-1-pentanol. Output: 3.39g (58%). |
