157945-82-9 - Introduction
2-(2-CYCLOPENTYLVINYL)-4,4, 5,5-tetramethyl-1, 3,2-dioxaborolane (abbreviated as CPVTD) is an Organoboron compound.
Nature:
CPVTD is an organic reagent with a boron-like specific interaction. It is a colorless liquid with a low boiling point and a high melting point. It is stable to air and water at room temperature. CPVTD is soluble in non-polar organic solvents such as diethyl ether, acetone and methanol and can provide a site for coordination through its oxygen atom.
Use:
CPVTD is commonly used in organic synthesis as a boron source and reagent. It is used in many reactions as a reliable source of boron chemicals, such as boron sources for borates, or for boron-catalyzed reactions. It can also be used in the synthesis of multifunctional organic molecules as boronic esters containing cyclopentylvinyl functionality.
Method:
The preparation method of CPVTD is relatively complicated. It is generally prepared by reacting two molecules of boric acid with the corresponding cyclopentanol and vinyl acetate in the presence of a sufficient amount of alkali.
Safety Information:
CPVTD has no obvious harm under normal use conditions. However, as a chemical reagent, it is still necessary to pay attention to safe operation and use appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles. At the same time, avoid inhaling its vapors or exposure to prolonged skin contact. During handling and storage, please keep it sealed, away from heat and flame. If ingested by mistake or if skin contact occurs, seek medical help immediately.
