17-hydroxygracillin - Introduction
17-hydroxydiosgenin (Paris D;17-hydroxygracillin) is a natural product that belongs to the class of tetraterpenes. It contains a 17-hydroxy group in its structure. Its chemical formula is C35H52O13, the relative molecular mass is 668.78.
17-hydroxydioscin mainly exists in Dioscorea (Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis), which is a common Chinese herbal medicine. It has a variety of pharmacological activities and is widely studied and applied. Some studies have shown that it has anti-tumor, anti-virus, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory and other activities. It is also considered to have the potential to treat diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases.
The preparation of 17-hydroxy cellulose dioscin is mainly through extraction and separation from slender dioscin. First of all, through water extraction or alcohol extraction and other methods, the effective components of Dioscorea was extracted. Then, through the steps of solvent extraction, separation and purification, the pure 17-hydroxy cellulose dioscin was obtained.
Regarding safety information, the toxicity study of 17-hydroxy cellulose dioscin is incomplete. However, other components in the slender Yam have been shown to be toxic to humans, especially at high doses. Therefore, more safety and toxicity studies are needed before using 17-hydroxycellosin, and appropriate standards and dosages are followed.
