174397-53-6 - Introduction
Tetraethyl 2,2 '-bipyridine-4,4'-diylbis(phosphonate), also known as DPPP, is an organophosphorus compound. The following is an introduction to the nature, use, preparation and safety information of DPPP:
Nature:
DPPP is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a lower vapor pressure and a higher boiling point at room temperature. It is soluble in common organic solvents such as ethanol, toluene and dimethyl sulfoxide. DPPP is a substance having strong hydrolyzability and high fluorescence.
Use:
The main use of DPPP is as a phosphorescent dye and fluorescent marker. It can be used for cellular fluorescent staining, immunostaining and molecular probes in biomedical research. In addition, DPPP can also be used to label and detect organic compounds, such as dyes and drugs. It can also be used as a light conversion material, a photosensitive material, and a biosensor.
Method:
The preparation method of DPPP is more complicated and is usually obtained by chemical synthesis. A common synthetic route is to react 2,2 '-bipyridine with triethylphthalein and thionyl chloride in dichloromethane to give the acetate derivative of DPPP, followed by acid hydrolysis or ethanol hydrolysis to give DPPP.
Safety Information:
DPPP is an organophosphorus compound with high toxicity. It may cause irritation and corrosion to the human body, should avoid inhalation, contact with the skin or eyes. Good ventilation and appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn during handling and storage. If exposed or inhaled, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help. When disposing of waste, local laws and regulations should be strictly observed, and safe disposal should be carried out.
