177659-78-8 - Introduction
Z-N-Me-Nva-OH is an organic compound with the chemical name N-carbobenzyloxy-N-methyl-L-valine. It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point in the range of 91-94 degrees Celsius.
Z-N-Me-Nva-OH are commonly used in the synthesis of peptides and pharmaceutical intermediates. It can be used as a protecting group to protect the amino group in the amino acid to avoid unnecessary reactions during the synthesis. Its protecting group may be removed after completion of the synthesis.
The method of preparing Z-N-Me-Nva-OH is usually to react L-norvaline with a strong acid (such as hydrochloric acid) to form the corresponding hydrochloride salt. The hydrochloride is then converted with NaOH in methanol to give N-methyl-L-norvaline. Finally, it is esterified with P-Hydroxybenzoic acid to obtain Z-N-Me-Nva-OH.
For safety information, Z-N-Me-Nva-OH are relatively safe under correct use and storage conditions, but general laboratory safety practices still need to be followed. It may be irritating to the eyes and skin, so contact should be avoided as much as possible. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as lab gloves and goggles during use. Do not breathe its dust or vapor of the solution. After the operation is completed, appliances and equipment contaminated with this substance should be thoroughly cleaned. If necessary, check the relevant Safety Data Sheet for more detailed information.
