1-Benzoyl-3-phenylurea (1-benzoyl-3-phenylurea) is an organic compound whose chemical formula is C14H12N2O. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and dichloromethane.
1-Benzoyl-3-phenylurea is widely used in agriculture as a plant growth regulator to promote plant growth and increase crop yields. It can control the growth of plants by inhibiting the synthesis of endogenous hormone auxin, so as to make plants more compact, uniform and dwarf.
In the preparation method, 1-Benzoyl-3-phenylurea can be obtained by reacting p-benzaldehyde with phenylacetone hydrazone. First, benzaldehyde and phenylacetone hydrazone react under basic conditions to form 1-benzoyl-3-phenylurea. Then, the resulting product is separated and extracted from the reaction solution by an acidification reaction.
For safety information, 1-Benzoyl-3-phenylurea has low toxicity, but it is still necessary to pay attention to its safe operation during use. Avoid inhaling its dust, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wear protective equipment when using. During storage and handling, it should be stored separately from flammable materials, oxidants, etc., and kept sealed. In case of accidental ingestion or contact, seek medical attention and provide relevant chemical safety data to the doctor for reference.
