18246-33-8 - Introduction
Nature:
1. Appearance: TES is a colorless liquid.
2. Density: The density of TES is small, about 0.74 g/mL.
3. Melting point and boiling point: TES has a melting point of -70 ℃ and a boiling point of 151-152 ℃.
4. Solubility: TES can be dissolved in common organic solvents, such as ether, ketone, etc.
Use:
1. Reducing Agent: TES can be used as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis, commonly used in the reduction of ketones, alcohols, aldehydes and other functional groups.
2. Protecting group: TES can be used as a protecting group to protect the nitrogen atom in amine-based compounds.
3. Solvent: TES can be used as a solvent for organic synthesis reactions, and can also act as a catalyst in some reactions.
Method:
TES can be prepared by the reaction of chloromethyltrimethylsilane (Me3SiCl) and chloroethylamine (EtNH2). HCl will be produced during the reaction, so it needs to be carried out under sufficient ventilation conditions.
Safety Information:
1. TES is a flammable liquid and should be kept away from fire sources such as open flames, high temperatures and sparks. Avoid inhalation or contact with flames, hot surfaces, or electrostatic discharge.
2. TES may be irritating to the skin and eyes, and direct contact should be avoided when using. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
3. When using TES, good ventilation measures should be taken to avoid inhaling its vapor.
4. TES should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated place, away from acids and oxidants.
