| preparation | S-2-acetamidophenethyl sulfide (0.5 mmol),2, 3-dichloroiodobenzene (0.6 mmol), cs2CO3 (2.0 mmol) and DMF(3 mL) were added to an oven-dried 25 mL tube equipped with a Stir bar. The test tube was sealed with a sleeve rubber plug, evacuated and re-filled with argon for three cycles. The mixture was stirred at 130 °c for 10 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction mixture was quenched with ethyl acetate. Wash with water (20ml) and extract three times with ethyl acetate (20ml). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous MgSO 4 and concentrated in vacuo by rotation. The residue was purified on a Silica Gel chromatography column to give 1-chlorobenzothiazine. |
