19481-82-4 - Introduction
2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE(2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H5BrN. The following is a description of the nature, use, formulation and safety information of 2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE:
Nature:
2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor. It has a density of about 1.5 g/mL, a boiling point of about 216-217°C, and a flash point of about 94°C. It is soluble in many organic solvents, such as ethanol, benzene and dichloromethane, but almost insoluble in water.
Use:
2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE is mainly used for intermediates in organic synthesis reactions, such as the synthesis of other organic compounds, pesticides and pharmaceuticals. It can be used as a catalyst, a blocking tempering agent and an antioxidant raw material.
Method:
2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE can be obtained by reacting propionitrile with bromine under appropriate conditions. A common preparation method is that Propionitrile is added dropwise to dilute hydrochloric acid, then bromine water and acetic acid are added as catalysts, and after reaction for several hours, the target product is obtained by distillation and purification.
Safety Information:
2-BROMOPROPIONITRILE is a pungent odor compound that can cause irritation and burns on contact with the skin. Avoid breathing its vapors and maintain good ventilation conditions. Wear appropriate protective gloves and glasses to avoid exposure to skin and eyes. Be careful during handling and storage to avoid contact with strong oxidants and strong acids to avoid dangerous reactions. In case of contact or aspiration, wash or seek medical attention immediately. Please keep it properly and keep it away from fire and flammable substances.
