Use:
2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-one is a commonly used organic synthesis intermediate. It can be used as a ketonizing agent, esterifying agent and condensing agent in the synthesis. It can be used in the synthesis of other organic compounds, such as coatings, resins, dyes, pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.
Preparation Method:
The preparation method of 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-one can be achieved by the Uskberg oxidation reaction. Specifically, 1,3-butanediol is reacted with methyl iodide to produce 2,2-dimethyl -1,3-dioxane. Then, the 2,2-dimethyl -1,3-dioxane is subjected to an oxidation reaction in the presence of iodine, and the product is 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-one.
