preparation | phenylhydrazine hydrochloride (1.44g,10mmol) A solution of cyclohexanone (1.00g,10mmol) in 30ml of acetic acid was added portionwise over 30 minutes and then refluxed for 8 hours to complete the reaction. The reaction was also cooled to room temperature and then poured into ice water, the solid was collected by filtration and recrystallized from methanol to give the Intermediate 1,2,3, 4-tetrahydrocarbazole, 1.44G of a white solid in 85% yield. |
