Use | Used as a surface active fungicide, with a strong broad-spectrum antibacterial, bactericidal effect, gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria are effective |
In vitro study | Chlorhexidine is a chemical preservative. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, although it is less effective against some Gram-negative bacteria. It has both bactericidal and bacteriostatic mechanism of action, which is cell membrane interference rather than ATPase inactivation. It is also effective against fungi and enveloped viruses, although this effect has not been extensively studied. Chlorhexidine is harmful in high concentrations, but is safe in low concentrations in many products, such as mouthwashes and contact lens care solutions. |
Risk Codes | R22 - Harmful if swallowed R36/37/38 - Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. |
Safety Description | S53 - Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. S45 - In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label whenever possible.) S61 - Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions / safety data sheets. S36 - Wear suitable protective clothing. S26 - In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. |
