2-(2,3-Dichlorophenyl)-2-oxoacetonitrile - Introduction
2,3-Dichlorobenzoyl cyanide is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H3Cl2N and a molecular weight of 190.03g/mol. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a pungent odor.
2,3-Dichlorobenzoyl cyanide is an important organic synthesis intermediate that can be used to synthesize other organic compounds, such as drugs and dyes. It can be used as an acylation reagent in organic synthesis, and can react with nucleophilic reagents such as alcohols and amines to generate corresponding esters, amides and other compounds.
2,3-Dichlorobenzoyl cyanide can be obtained by reacting p-nitrocresol with chlorine. First, nitrocresol is dissolved in an alcohol, and then the reaction is carried out under an acidic condition by passing chlorine gas therethrough to produce 2,3-Dichlorobenzoyl cyanide.
2,3-Dichlorobenzoyl cyanide need to pay attention to safety precautions when using and storing. It is a toxic substance, irritating and corrosive. Wear appropriate protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves during operation. Avoid contact with skin and inhalation of vapors. In storage should be placed in a sealed container, away from fire and oxidant.
