Preparation
synthesized from 3-phenylpropionate ethyl acetate, 500mg(35mmol) of magnesium chips and 25mL of anhydrous ether are added into a three-mouth flask equipped with reflux condenser tube and drip funnel, and 5.89(40mmol) of methyl iodide and 10mL of anhydrous ether are added dropwise to prepare Grignard reagent. A mixture of 1.89(10mmol)3-phenylpropionate ethyl ester and 5mL ether was added dropwise under ice bath cooling. After adding, the water bath reflows lh. Then cool with ice salt bath, pour the reaction mixture into a mixture of 50g ice and lmL concentrated sulfuric acid under stirring. Extraction with ether, the ether layer is separated, and the water layer is extracted with 2x20mL ether. The extract is combined and washed with sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution and saturated salt water in turn. Dry with anhydrous magnesium sulfate and evaporate the solvent. Using silica gel column chromatography, ethyl ether-petroleum ether (3:7) eluted to obtain 2.2g of pale yellow oily liquid dimethylphenylethyl alcohol.
