from 2-methylimidazole by nitration. Sulfuric acid, 2-methylimidazole and sodium sulfate are successively put into the reaction pot, stirred and heated, nitric acid is added dropwise at 150-160 ℃, after adding, the solution is reacted for 1h. After removing the temperature to below 140 ℃, add water and adjust the pH to 3.5-4 with ammonia to precipitate crystallization. Filter, wash with water to neutral, dry to obtain 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole.
