2-Phenyl-4,5-dihydrooxazole - Introduction
2-phenyl-2-oxazoline, also known as 2-phenyl-2-oxazolone, is an organic compound. Its chemical formula is C9H9NO and its molecular weight is 147.17g/mol.
Nature:
2-phenyl-2-oxazoline is a colorless to pale yellow liquid. It has an odor similar to ketones. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in most organic solvents, such as ethanol, ether and chloroform.
Use:
2-phenyl-2-oxazoline is commonly used as catalyst and ligand, especially in metal-catalyzed reactions. It can be used in organic synthesis to generate compounds with chirality. In addition, it can also be used to synthesize high molecular polymers and multifunctional compounds.
Preparation Method:
There are two main methods for the preparation of 2-phenyl-2-oxazoline:
1. by carbamoyl hydrazine (NH2NHCONHNH2) and benzoyl chloride (C6H5C(O)Cl) reaction under alkaline conditions to synthesis.
2. by making benzaldehyde (C6H5CHO) and formamide (HCONH2) under alkaline conditions in the catalytic reaction of copper acetate to synthesize.
Safety Information:
When using 2-phenyl-2-oxazoline, pay attention to the following safety precautions:
1. It may cause irritation and allergic reactions to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Therefore, you should wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves and protective masks.
2. Avoid inhaling its vapor or skin contact. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
3. It should be stored in a dry, cool place, and away from fire and oxidant.
4. in use and storage, should comply with the relevant safety procedures and regulations.
