Use | 2-bromo-6-fluoronitrobenzene is a hydrocarbon derivative mainly used as an organic intermediate. |
preparation | to sodium perborate tetrahydrate (135.374g.,886.4 mmol) to a suspension in 500 mL of acetic acid was added dropwise 2-bromo-6-fluoro-aniline (33.685g.,177.271 mmol) in 70 mL acetic acid. The reaction mixture was stirred at 55°C for an additional 3 hours and then cooled to 0°C in an ice bath. Insoluble materials were removed by filtration through a plug of Celite and rinsed with 100ml of acetic acid. The combined acetic acid was added to 3 liters of ice water with stirring to give a waxy solid which was removed by filtration. The crude solid was dissolved in 200mL of ethyl acetate and washed three times with 10% aqueous hydrogen chloride solution, of saturated sodium bicarbonate and of brine. The solution was concentrated in vacuo to give 2-bromo-6-fluoronitrobenzene as a red oil in a yield of 11.51g. |
