production method | from the reaction of chloroethanol and sodium iodide. The mixture of acetone and anhydrous sodium iodide was heated to reflux on a water bath and chloroethanol was slowly added. After addition, reflux was continued for 12h, cooling, and sodium chloride crystals were filtered. Then sodium iodide was added to the filtrate and refluxed for 4H, cooled, filtered, and acetone was recovered. The residue was distilled under reduced pressure under the protection of nitrogen, and the 85-88 ℃(3.33kPa) fraction was collected, 2-iodoethanol was obtained. |
