2-propenoicacid,2-methyl-,7,7,9(or7,9,9)-trimethyl-4,13-dioxo-3,14-dioxa-5, - Introduction
Diurethane dimethacrylate (also known as TMDP) is a compound with a mixture of isomers. Its chemical formula is C8H14N2O4, which is a colorless liquid.
TMDP has low volatility and solubility, and has good thermal and chemical stability. Its main use is as a plasticizer for solvents, coatings, paints, adhesives and polymeric materials. TMDP can also be used as photosensitive material, coating additive and reaction medium.
The method of preparing TMDP is usually obtained by reacting diurea with methyl methacrylate in the presence of a catalyst. Reaction conditions can be adjusted as desired, but common reaction conditions include the use of an effective catalyst, such as copper acetate, to catalyze the reaction at a suitable temperature and pressure.
Regarding safety information, the TMDP should take care to avoid contact with skin and eyes, and avoid inhaling aerosols or vapours. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. During use, good ventilation should be provided and personal protective equipment such as gloves and protective glasses should be used. In addition, the TMDP should be kept away from ignition sources and flammable substances.
