Method:
The synthesis of 3-Benzyloxyphenyl isothiocyanate can usually be carried out by the following steps:
1. Benzyl alcohol is reacted with methylene tetrasulfide (CS2) at room temperature to obtain 3-benzyloxypropanol ester (Ph-O-CH2CH2OH).
2. Under alkali catalysis, 3-benzyloxypropyl alcohol ester reacts with sulfoxylate (RO-S = O) to generate 3-Benzyloxyphenyl isothiocyanate.
