21742-00-7 - Introduction
2-(Trifluoromethyl) benzene chloride is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H6ClF3. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with a strong chlorine smell and spicy taste. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation methods and safety information of the compound:
Nature:
-Appearance: colorless transparent liquid
-Boiling point: 148-149 ℃
-Density: 1.329 g/mL
-Melting point: -34 ℃
-Stability: stable, but reacts with strong alkali and strong acid to generate harmful gas
-Solubility: Soluble in many organic solvents, such as ethanol and ether
Use:
2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzyl chloride is mainly used as initiator and crosslinking agent in organic synthesis. It can be used as an initiator for catalytic polymerization, polymer crosslinking and the preparation of alcohol ester resins. In addition, it can also be used to prepare some drugs and pesticides.
Method:
2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzyl chloride is usually obtained by chlorination of trifluorotoluene. In the reaction, trifluoromethylbenzene is chlorinated by treating a transition metal catalyst and chlorine gas to form o-trifluoromethylchlorobenzene, which is then reacted with benzyl chloride to obtain the final product.
Safety Information:
-Contact: Avoid skin contact, which may cause irritation or allergic reactions.
-Inhalation: Avoid inhaling vapors or gases of the substance, which may cause suffocation in confined spaces.
-edible: not edible, may cause poisoning.
-Storage: should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from heat and fire.
-Waste disposal: Disposal shall be carried out in accordance with local regulations and shall not be dumped.
Please note that when using or handling 2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzyl chloride, strict chemical safety procedures must be followed and appropriate protective equipment must be worn.
