Overview | The content of commercially available deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide reagent is only about 99.5%. The main impurities are water and dimethyl sulfone. Deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide is a sulfur-containing organic compound. It is a colorless and odorless transparent liquid at room temperature. It is a hygroscopic combustible liquid, it has the characteristics of high polarity, high boiling point, good thermal stability, aprotic, and water miscible. It can be dissolved in most organic substances such as ethanol, propanol, and chloroform. It is known as a "universal solvent" and is widely used Solvent and reaction reagent, especially as processing solvent and spinning solvent, such as polyurethane synthesis and spinning solvent, polyamide, polyimide and polysulfone resin synthesis solvent, and aromatic hydrocarbons, butadiene extraction solvent and solvent for synthesizing chlorofluoroaniline, etc. In addition, it is also widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. |
use | deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide has strong water absorption and permeability to the body. it is widely used as a solvent and reaction reagent. it is used as an organic synthetic solvent in the fields of pesticides, dyes, pharmaceutical intermediates, etc., hence the name "universal drug" or "universal solvent". Application | Deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is an aprotic polar solvent. Because of its special solvent effect on chemical reactions and its dissolution characteristics for many substances, it is called "universal solvent". At present, it is widely used in many chemical fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, medicine, electronics, synthetic fiber, plastic, printing and dyeing. Deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide is widely used as a solvent and reaction reagent, especially as a processing solvent and spinning solvent in acrylonitrile polymerization. Dimethylamine is widely used in the chemical industry, so the recovery of deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide has objective economic and environmental benefits. The recovery of deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide usually adopts the method of rectification. In the existing deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide recovery methods, the equipment investment and energy consumption are relatively large,. |
properties | dimethyl sulfoxide (CH3)2SO, referred to as DMSO. A sulfur-containing organic compound. Strong hygroscopic liquid, soluble in water and various organic solvents. |
Preparation | This method is a continuous and high-efficiency preparation method of deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide. Through multiple water separation and repeated reactions and recrystallization purification, Dimethyl sulfoxide with high deuteration degree is obtained, and its deuteration degree is greater than 99.8% by high-resolution mass spectrometry. It fills the technical gap in the preparation of deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide products in China. Using dimethyl sulfoxide and heavy water as raw materials, adding an alkali catalyst, reacting at 90-95 ℃ for 1-3 hours, and then heating to 130-150 ℃ to separate water; continue to add heavy water to the reaction liquid, Repeat the above reaction operation for 2-5 times; Distill the reaction liquid under reduced pressure, collect fractions at 100-110 ℃, and obtain crude deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide. The specific operation is as follows: 500g of 99.9% high-purity dimethyl sulfoxide, 2 liters of heavy water, and 10g of KOH are added into a 5L three-mouth bottle, heated to 90-95 ℃ for 2 hours under stirring, and then heated to 140 ℃ to separate water. Continue to add heavy water 2L to the reaction bottle and repeat the above operation four times. The remaining liquid in the reaction flask was distilled under reduced pressure, and fractions of 100-110°C were collected at a vacuum of 1.4Kpa. 492 grams of colorless transparent liquid was obtained with 98.4% yield. Then 99.9% high purity dimethyl sulfoxide is added to the reaction bottle. Repeat the above operations. Since no side reactions occur during the reaction, the residual alkali catalyst can be recycled all the time. Purification of deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide: After the reaction is over, the deuteration degree of the separated dimethyl sulfoxide is about 99.2%. Then 492g of crude product was recrystallized at 17 ℃, and 428g of pure deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide was obtained by low temperature filtration with 85.6% yield. The deuteration degree was more than 99.8% by high resolution mass spectrometry. |
