22089-12-9 - Introduction
1-(2,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl) ethanone, abbreviated as DME, is an organic compound. Its chemical formula is C9H10O4 and its molecular weight is 178.18g/mol. DME is a solid substance with a white to off-white color.
DME has certain application potential in drug research and synthesis. It is widely used as an intermediate and can be used to synthesize various drugs and bioactive molecules. For example, DME can be used in the synthesis of natural products like the sub-class oxalate acetophenone acid (CPEC) and like acarolide (ALS).
There are many methods for preparing DME, such as synthesis through the acid-catalyzed reaction of phenylacetic acid and M-methoxyphenol. In this reaction, phenylacetic acid first reacts with methanol to form a methyl ester, and then with M-methoxyphenol to produce DME.
Regarding the safety information of DME, the following matters need to be paid attention. Dust or vapor from DME may cause irritation to the eyes, respiratory tract and skin. Wear appropriate protective equipment such as goggles, protective gloves and protective clothing when using and handling DME. Avoid inhaling DME dust or vapor and should be used in a well-ventilated place. If DME is accidentally exposed, flush the affected area with water immediately and seek medical help if necessary. When using DME, follow relevant safe operating procedures and correct laboratory practices.
