introduction | 2-bromophenylboronic acid is a boric acid derivative, which is widely used in organic synthesis for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. In Suzuki coupling, aryl halides and boric acid aryl or vinyl ester or boric acid are coupled using Pd(PPh3)4. |
use | 2-bromophenylboric acid is also called o-bromophenylboric acid, an important intermediate of electronic chemicals for Organic Light-Emitting Diode,OLED). |
Preparation | The solution of o-dibromobenzene (0.5 cm3,4.15 mmol),THF-Et2O(25 cm3:25 cm3) was cooled to -115°C in a nitrogen/ethanol cooling bath. Rapid addition of precooling (-78°C) t-BuLi(5.9 cm3,8.73 mmol). The yellow reaction mixture was stirred at -115°C for 35 minutes. A pre-cooled (-78°C) solution of B(OMe)3(5 cm3,44 mmol) in Et2O(10 cm3) was added. Stir at -115 to -105°C for two hours. At -115°C, the reaction was quenched with 5 cm3 EtOH-concentrated hydrochloric acid (8:2). Slowly warmed to room temperature, then recrystallized from water (150 cm3) to obtain 2-bromophenylboronic acid. |
